🚨 Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR)
What is Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR)
Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) is a safety performance indicator used to measure how many recordable incidents occur in a workplace per 200,000 working hours.
Calculation Result:
Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR): -
Components:
- Number of Recordable Incidents (N): This is the total count of work-related injuries and illnesses that meet the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) criteria for being “recordable.” This includes:
- Fatalities
- Loss of consciousness
- Days away from work
- Restricted work activity or job transfer
- Medical treatment beyond first aid (e.g., stitches, prescription medication, non-routine medical care)
- Total Hours Worked (EH): The total number of hours actually worked by all employees (including full-time, part-time, and temporary staff under your supervision) during the period being measured (typically a year).
- 200,000 (Base Hours): This constant figure is the standard benchmark established by OSHA. It represents the total number of hours 100 full-time employees would work in a year, assuming a 40-hour work week for 50 weeks (100 employees x 40 hours/week 13 x times x 50 weeks/year = 200,000 hours)
